This month was wild on my end! A lot of updates to the website in terms of content; I hope you guys have been enjoying the steady stream of Keeping Secrets. We’re swiftly approaching the Val Royeaux arc, which really is when the story picks up, for a definition of “picks” and “up.” There’s also a new fanfiction on the scene, both here and on Ao3, Never Meet Your Heroes, which is a DC fanfiction starring Kari Swanson, a familiar face for any readers of Dragon (S)laying. I do recycle characters a lot. It’s a running joke that both Kari and Ren exist in every given universe.

In life hunt news, I’m job hunting again. I’ve been doing contract work since the fall, but it’s really slowing down, and I’m just finding it really impossible to walk the extreme tightrope handed to me by the government when it comes to how much I can earn. The difference between ‘how much I need to earn to stay afloat’ and ‘how much I can earn before they cut off my insurance’ is quite literally $70/month, which means I’m completely incapable of having “good weeks” to counteract the bad ones. It just doesn’t work very well. Of course, the job hunt is going terribly and no one will even give me an interview, which is pretty bog standard, especially with all the massive lay-offs happening.

I’m doing more writing during this interim, kind of for lack of anything better to do as contract work has really dried up. This isn’t a move for me trying to make it a career or a good source of income again, it’s just something I do to keep myself sane! Hence why you guys got 15,000 words of DC fanfiction and not something more relevant. I will mention that I do have commission tiers at the $100 level if anyone is deeply invested in seeing something more relevant, but I know times are as hard for everyone else as they are for me. While I do intend to write more of the paywalled stuff, the focus on free content also feels apt since I know everyone’s hurting for $.

I can’t really say what to expect for March, because for all we know I could get hired next Tuesday and suddenly have no free time, but I guess if you see more updates, you’ll know why (and if you don’t, you’ll also know why). Stay alive out there! Stop doomscrolling! Read a book, or a manga, or watch some Dropout. Remind yourself there will for sure be a new Animal Crossing title with the Switch 2. Whatever it takes to keep on churning, my guys.
