What’s the worst way you can imagine meeting your hero? How about tied up and drugged in a dirty warehouse while wearing a magical girl cosplay? That’s got to at least rank, right?
Never Meet Your Heroes follows the adventures and origin of Kari, aka Super Senshi (he did not pick the name), a new-on-the-block superhero who grew up loving superheroes. It’s a relatively light-hearted coming-of-age story about getting what you wished for. It does contain some (non-explicit) sexual content/feelings appropriate for a YA novel, as well as drug use (including non-consentual drugging. I mean, this is Gotham, Joker lives there).
A Note For DC Fans: This fanfiction follows a funky mix of DC Rebirth (but in the past), Silver Age, and Animated Series/Movies timelines, because it’s whatever I read that I also liked. My only hard-and-fast rule is that if a plot point makes me throw up in my mouth, it didn’t happen. Some dark things (mostly related to violence) remain, but others (mostly related to sexual violence or a lot of the grimdark retcons of the ’90s and ’00s) have been shot into the abyss.
